Welcome to Lehigh!
Welcome to Lehigh Riding Academy, a prestigious riding academy set in the small, yet bustling town of Lehigh Valley. Founded about 20 years ago by two horse enthusiasts, the academy has made a name for itself as one of the best, but, with the recent retirement of the original founders and the handing of the baton to a totally new head, there is talk that the academy may be up to losing that reputation. Rumors are just rumors, yes, but only time will tell if those rumors will come true...

We understand that no one likes rules because it can seem like they take forever to read, but it is necessary to have them in place so that we can keep things running smoothly. If you plan on joining us, please read these carefully before you register with us.

Characters & Registering

~ One of the first things you want to do is register, of course. When you do, please fill in your username as the First Last name of your character. For example: John Doe

~ Next, you'll probably want to fill out your character's profile. You can do this by logging in with your character and hitting the 'profile' button. There are several fields we'd like you to have filled out, and those are your character's job or occupation, your character's location, and we would also love it if you had an avatar. Max avatar size is different than the default for Forumotion to allow for a little more flexibility and fun, and it is 200 by 300. You may also want to include a signature, but that isn't required. Although we don't have a set limit, we would prefer you keep your signatures to somewhere close to 500 by 200. The basic guideline to go by is that if it stretches the forum, then you need to size it down.

~ The most important thing you need to do is to post a character application using the model provided in the proper forum. We ask that you try to start one within seven to ten days of registering, but I'm not going to get on you about it if you don't have the time. Just let us know and we can work out times.

Really, the most important thing for your character application is to make it with detail. If you can't complete it in one sit-down, simply add || wip to the end of the title and delete it when you have finished. If you have completed an app and we haven't seen it, then please just message one of us to let us know and we will get to reading your application as soon as we can. The administrator that reads your app will post back with either an acceptance notice or a notice of your character being declined. If your character is declined, we will state why and give you a chance to fix what we would like to see improved. Please don't let us turn you away if there's something that can be fixed. We 're mainly just looking for effort and a character we think you could use. Wink

Also to be said with applications, please don't feel rushed to complete it. We understand that bios are long and tedious to do, so we have made a group for characters with incomplete applications. Once you have an app started, your character will be placed into this group and then you can feel free to start posting! That way you're not held back by having to finish up an application before getting involved. Wink

~ Largely, this is an original characters only site. If you do want to take a canon character up from somewhere, please contact an admin and we can discuss it to see if there is an exception. Also, we only accept humans here. This means that we will not accept any beings like vampires or shape-shifters or werewolves. There are other places for those kinds of characters; however, that place is not here.

~ Registered characters can only be injured, and not killed.

~ Be polite and respectful to all members. Yes, that's right, all of them. Being nice just to the staff isn't going to cut it. Bullying and discrimination are not tolerable things here.

With that mentioned, please don't take in character things personally. If you have a character that is a bully, that is perfectly fine until you start meaning it towards the members you are role-playing with.

~ Characters at Lehigh are generally 14-18 years and older. For the reason that the academy has students that can be that young, we ask that you leave the adult r-16 themes alone for the most part, although we will allow swearing, as long as its within reason. You don't need to be using that language every other sentence. That's a little excessive.

~ While we will not strictly run regular activity checks, we will run them occasionally. We ask for, at the very least, one post a month, as we don't wish to put a strain on you and push you for posts. Of course, it'd be great and we'd love you if you could do some more than that, but that is all we will require.

With that, I need to mention a character count. Although we have no cap on characters at the moment, we advise you to keep only as many characters as you believe you can keep active.

~ As a respect thing, we ask that you avoid making characters that are related to someone else's already registered character (siblings, children, love interests, or anything like that) without asking for permission. If there is a wanted add for them, than you may feel free to respond to it by taking up that character, but you should ask first otherwise.

~ Please, please, please feel free to talk to the staff! We try to be around as much as possible and we promise we don't bite! The only way we can help you with any questions, comments, or concerns you have is if you talk to us to let us know about them!

~ We have a minimum word count of 150 words. It is required that you meet this count with every in character post, and it isn't really that difficult, so please do your best.

~ God-modding and power playing are strictly not allowed. If you must do it, you absolutely have to have permission before you do it. Otherwise, it is a breaking of this rule.

~ A special note on money: Money is earned when you post in character! Your characters can then spend this money in our little shop on the board to buy items like horses, tack, clothing, and even a change in your character's face claim. You will also receive money for your character for reaching certain achievements, like extra long posts or making it to a certain page in a thread. Be sure to claim this extra gold, as we may not always check for you!

Please know that these rules can and will be changed at any time we see fit and that it is your responsibility as a member to keep updated with them, although we will typically alert you to a rule change. Failure to follow these rules will result in either a temporary ban of all your characters or complete deletion of them. We may also choose to take the character off of you and put them up for adoption.
